Musicians
Photographing young classical musicians is my long-term ongoing project. There
is something very compeling in trying to capture the fresh entusiasm and the
sensitivity of the young musicians and composers. This is not a trivial task as
it requires intimate and ingenious approach that is chalenging but much more
rewarding both to the subject and to the photographer. I work with both black
and white and color media and use different locations and lighting to bring the
unique personality of every subject.
Most young musicians underestimate the power of an artistic portrait in
conveying their image and accessing a wider audience for their music. There are
so many examples of briliant composers and already established performers
featuring on their webpage an inferior photo - usually a snapshot taken during
a party or a family outing. Yet a proper photograph is just as important in
conveying their image to the public as is thir music!
